Wild Workouts’ 11th Annual Turkey Trot Run November 26

November 2, 2015

Turkey Trot 2 copyWild Workouts will stage its 2015 Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 26.

Gym owner Amber Budahn, gym trainers,  and clients will start their holiday at 9am with a 3.1-mile Turkey Trot run and 1.5-mile walk at 3056 S. Delaware Ave.

The outing is open to everyone and there are no fees but participants are asked to bring donations of nonperishable food items for the Bay View Community Center food pantry.

Budahn said the volume of donations has grown every year since she hosted her first charity Turkey Trot at her parents’ home. “I started it to show appreciation for all the wonderful clients I was privileged to train,” said Budahn, an elite athlete and veteran trainer. “I felt so much gratitude that I wanted to get together on Thanksgiving morning for a little exercise and help people who are struggling.”

Budahn said she and her team hope the gym’s studio will be filled with food on Thanksgiving morning, as they give people a chance to burn calories before diving into the holiday feast.

The route includes a section of the Oak Leaf Trail and loops through South Shore Park. Sharing holiday greetings with neighbors along the route has become one of the highlights, Budahn said.
