Flavors of Fall cheese tasting and stew sampling Nov. 14

November 2, 2015

A Wisconsin-cheese tasting, harvest-stew sampling, and holiday-themed silent auction will make up the “Flavors of Fall,” at Wehr Nature Center, Saturday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 7:30pm. The event is a fundraiser for Wehr’s Accessibility Project.

The event will kick off with the cheese tasting in the Fireplace Room. Artisanal cheeses from some of Wisconsin’s fine cheesemakers will be offered for sampling. The Beer Barons of Milwaukee will share a seasonal beer brewed especially for the event. One complimentary beer, wine, or non-alcoholic beverage is included with the cheese tasting admission ticket.

The stew sampling, which begins at 6pm, features three stews—one vegetarian—all made from locally-grown produce. The menu will include salad, breads, homemade dessert, and coffee, soda, or water. Additional beer or wine drink tokens will be available for purchase.

Throughout the evening, visitors may bid on items in the silent auction. Items include original artwork, wine and beer baskets, jewelry, dining coupons, and homemade ready-to-bake pies. Bid winners will be announced at the end of the evening.

Funds raised will go toward the accessibility project at the Nature Center. In October, Wehr celebrated the grand opening of the accessible amphitheater. Inspired by the well-received Accessible Viewing Deck donated by the Todd Wehr Foundation, the Friends of Wehr continue to raise funds to improve access to the center and its natural areas for visitors with limited mobility.

Admission is $20 per person. Additional wine or beer tokens may be purchased for $5 each. Reservations are suggested but not required.

The Nature Center is located at 9701 W. College Ave. in Whitnall Park.
