Walker announces sledding hill openings

County Executive Scott Walker announced the opening of sledding hills in the Milwaukee County Parks in anticipation of tonight’s snowfall. Whitnall Park sledding hill will open tomorrow, Wednesday, December 9 from 3pm – 8pm, and features concessions and a warming fireplace. (If local schools are closed due to inclement weather, Whitnall Park sledding hill will be open from 10am until 8pm).

Currie Park, 3535 N. Mayfair Rd.
Whitnall Park, 5879 S. 92nd St.
Dretzka Park, 12020 W. Bradley Rd.
Humboldt Park, 3000 S. Howell Ave.
Mitchell Park, 524 S. Layton Blvd.
Pulaski (Milwaukee), 2677 S. 116th St.

Day-time sledding hills include:
McCarty Park, 8214 W. Cleveland Ave.
Brown Deer Park, 7835 N. Green Bay Rd.
Columbus Park, 7301 W. Courtland Ave.
Greene Park, 4235 S. Lipton Ave.
Hales Corners Park, 5765 S. New Berlin Rd.
LaFollette Park, 9418 W. Washington St.
Maitland Park, 6001 S. 13th St.
Sheridan Park, 4800 S. Lake Dr.

Young children should be supervised by adults. Do not sled on slopes that end in a street, drop off, parking lot, river or pond. For an indoor escape instead of sledding, consider a trip to the Mitchell Park Domes’ Christmas Floral Show, “A Children’s Holiday, ” open weekdays 9am to 5pm and weekends 9am to 4pm through January 3.
