St. Thomas Aquinas Academy, 341 E. Norwich St., received a $1,000 grant for its fourth grade environmental improvement project from the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin C.D. Besadny Conservation Grant Program. St. Veronica Parish will match the funding with an additional $1,000.
The project is an undertaking of the fourth grade classes and the maintenance department of St. Veronica, where the school is located. The fourth grade social studies and science curricula include the study of environmental issues and Wisconsin. The students planted shrubs and flowering plants native to Wisconsin in front of the school building May 29.
