Name change ideas invited

With the merger of Bay View High School and Fritsche Middle School programs imminent, the call is out for what to name the resultant hybrid. The schools are inviting public suggestions before May 15 online at fritscheschool.org/name/Name_Our_School. The school governance councils of both existing schools will meet in late May, sort through proposed names, and select the top four candidates. Then Bay View and Fritsche students will vote on their favorite. The school board will have final approval. The Compass obtained a list of proposed names as of March 11. Here’s a sampling: Batsche School, Bay Fritsche High School, Bay View Red Falcons, Blue Cats, Fritsche View School, South Shore Secondary School of Arts and Technology, Town of Lake School of Performing Technologies, John McCain High School, and William G. Andrekopolous High School.
