Wine tasting fundraiser

The Bay View Historical Society is sponsoring its third annual wine tasting fundraiser Aug. 23 from 5 to 8pm at the Beulah Brinton House, 2590 S. Superior St.

G. Groppi Food Market is catering the event and will provide cheese, bread, dessert, and live musical entertainment, said Ann Hahn, co-chair of the event committee with Lois O’Brien.

Two years ago, the society had a good crowd, Hahn said; last year, only about 68 attended. This year Hahn said they’re hoping 250 to 300 people attend.

“We are in a bit of dire need here. We’re looking for corporate funding [for the Brinton house mortgage] and we don’t have it at this time.” Hahn said.

Proceeds benefit the house and the society. There will be a silent auction.

Admission is $45 in advance and $55 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at Groppi’s, 1441 E. Russell Ave.; Sendik’s on Oakland, 4027 N. Oakland Ave.; Underwood Gallery in Wauwatosa, 1430 Underwood Ave.; the South Shore Farmers Market, Aug. 6; or by mail to the Bay View Historical Society.
