Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee (HPGM) will host a leadership conference to provide Hispanic professionals with valuable tools to enhance leadership skills and expand their professional networks.
“These resources can help set Latinos apart in this competitive, shrinking job market,” said Yvonne Brodsky, Executive Director of HPGM.
The half-day event will promote leadership development among Hispanic professionals. It will be held on Friday, March 20 at the Wisconsin Club from 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. This year’s conference will provide professionals with a forum to share leadership experiences across industry sectors, opportunities for professional development and a platform for networking.
Dr. Azara Santiago-Rivera, a Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology Program at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, will deliver the keynote address. Her talk will focus on the psychology of the Latino in the workplace.
In addition, there will be breakout sessions and a panel discussion featuring representatives from We Energies, Northwestern Mutual, Benavides Enterprises, the HODI Center, Manpower, Quarles & Brady LLP, Advanced Wireless, Inc., and Cream City Foundation.
A panel discussion among Milwaukee Hispanic leaders will discuss the keys to success. Breakout sessions will address: how to lead with motivation and conviction; ways to position yourself in a lean economy; and how become a culturally competent manager and will cover conflict management – the Latino perspective. The event will also feature speed-networking opportunities.
Admissions counselors, business professionals, directors, diversity purchasers, diversity specialists, entrepreneurs, human resources professionals, and other leaders at the management and supervisory levels are encouraged to attend. The registration fee for HPGM members is $79 and $99 for non-members. Visit, www.hpgm.org for more information.
