Call for Bands — Chill on the Hill 2009

Since 2005, local nonprofit Bay View Neighborhood Association (BVNA) has been producing the “Chill on the Hill” concert series in conjunction with Milwaukee County Parks.   The series has been 100% supported by sponsorship dollars and in-kind donations.  See www.bayviewneighborhood.org for more information about the BVNA.

About “Chill on the Hill”

The “Chill on the Hill” concert series is a family-friendly event with a goal of providing an eclectic and diverse musical mix.  The series occurs on Tuesday nights, from Memorial Day through Labor Day, at the Humboldt Park Bandshell from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.   The concerts draw a large audience of music fans from Bay View and beyond that includes families with their young children, young professionals, and our senior neighbors.  Free parking and plenty of space on the lawn add to the draw!

Band Requirements:

We will provide sound. Just plug in and play.  Bands should arrive between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. for sound check.  Bands will perform from 6:30-8:30 p.m., allowing two sets with one 10-15 minute break. Certain dates will have an opening act from 6:00 to 6:30 comprised of a local school group.

We are looking for musical genres to please both young and old; rockabilly, salsa, swing, country-western, reggae, jazz, Blues, Irish, polka band, you name it…we’re interested in checking you out!  We’re booking bands and hope to have our lineup complete by April 1, 2009. The planning committee will choose the final lineup.

Please respond ASAP with a final postmark deadline of March 6, 2009!

Please send us the following in a media kit or web link:

1. Band Name
2. Band Contact Name and info (email, phone number, and mailing address)
3. Band Sound sample (MySpace page or other web link, or recorded sound samples you provide)
4. Band references:  At least 2 professional references for the band from previous bookings-include name, contact info and their website.

(If you’re playing out in the month of April or May, let us know and we’ll try to drop in.)

1. Preference of dates:  Please choose two dates that work for your group.  The dates for 2009 are Tuesdays from June 2 through September 1.
