Clement Avenue School helps food pantries
January 30, 2009
Clement Avenue students went all out in collecting food items for local food pantries this past holiday season. They donated 2,176 food items and many of the classrooms took it personally. Mr. Danek’s sixth grade, Room 3, collected 579 items alone. Because of their students’ great work and commitment, the staff planned a special luncheon for the Room 3 students. The students were served an appetizer of Italian bread and spread, a crisp salad, and spaghetti or cheese tortellini and meatballs, accompanied by sparkling grape juice and lemon water.
The meal was followed by spumoni ice cream and a cookie. The students were waited on by their own teachers and principal. ~photos Casey Schmeling, Grade 7
