Emerge Wisconsin announces the launch of its 2011 application process! Emerge encourages any Democratic woman to apply who has been asked to run for office or has thought about the possibility of serving in elected office. “There has been a growing enthusiasm across the state for our training program and we are excited to train the next group of women ready to run,” stated Executive Director Wendy Strout.

Emerge Wisconsin announced their labor partnerships with the following labor unions: Wisconsin AFL-CIO, Wisconsin AFSCME Council 40 PEOPLE, American Federation of Teachers Wisconsin, OPEIU Midwest United Local 2009, Service Employees International Union, Wisconsin Education Association Council and Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals – AFT. The goal of these partnerships is to increase the number of women from labor who are trained to run successful campaigns for office. “We are excited to have more women from labor participate in our training program. Women who come from labor organizations have already taken on some form of leadership role. The next natural step is for these women to run for office. Emerge Wisconsin wants to help these women take that next step,” claimed Strout.

“Emerge Wisconsin is a key program to getting more women to run for office. Labor organizations want their members to run for office. Emerge is a great place for their female members to receive the training they need to run a successful campaign. I am excited to see the number of labor organizations supporting and working with Emerge to increase the number of women in office at all levels,” said Sara Rogers, Executive Vice President, Wisconsin AFL-CIO and Emerge Wisconsin Advisor.

Launched in 2007, Emerge is the only organization in Wisconsin that provides Democratic women with the comprehensive training they need to achieve their political aspirations. Emerge Wisconsin is part of Emerge America, a national movement and premier training program that addresses the under-representation of women in office at the local, state, and federal level. There are Emerge affiliates in nine states: Arizona, California, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, and Wisconsin. Emerge was founded to create a legion of Democratic women leaders for generations to come.
