UWM to host gubernatorial-candidate fireside chats

The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Panther Advocates will host gubernatorial candidates Tom Barrett, Mark Neumann and Scott Walker as they discuss their campaign platforms and plans for Wisconsin. These events are free and open to the public.

Three individual “Fireside Chats” will feature a presentation by the scheduled gubernatorial candidate and a question-and-answer session moderated by Political Science Professor and Chair Marcus Ethridge.

Bringing the three candidates to the university’s Alumni Fireside Lounge will allow them to discuss matters of higher education and other priorities with UWM students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community in a nonpartisan setting. All three candidates will appear in individual presentations in the Alumni Fireside Lounge, first floor of the UWM Union, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd. The schedule for the Fireside Chat series is as follows:

· Mark Neumann – MondayApril 5, 12-1 p.m.

· Scott Walker – TuesdayApril 6, 12-1 p.m.

· Tom Barrett – MondayMay 3, 12-1 p.m.

Co-sponsors include the UWM Student Association, Political Science Department, College Democrats, College Republicans and the Academic Staff Legislative Subcommittee.

The university and UWM Panther Advocates plan to host another round of candidate presentations closer to the Nov. 2 gubernatorial election. The Panther Advocates organization consists of UWM alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, parents and community members who work to promote UWM’s agenda.
