Sitron is Norwegian for lemon. Brianna Ziebell, whose plans to open floral design studio Gro with partner Ryan Clancy fell through, chose that name for her new art gallery and studio in the same space at 2671 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. because she wanted to make lemonade out of life’s lemons.

Sitron opened Feb. 26. Through April 3, the gallery hosts Fields of Color, an exhibition featuring visual artists Amy Jo Arndt, Beki Borman, James C. Klingbiel, and KTRE.

Ziebell is graduating from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in art history and art with a minor in theatre this year. “I want to give Bay View a taste of not only great local work but artists from Chicago and from all over the United States,” she said.

Ziebell is seeking sculptures to put in a tea garden behind her studio, to open in the spring. Sitron will host classes, guest lectures, workshops, and offer space for rent.

She said she’s thinking “green” in the gallery, painting it with VOC-free paints and mounting artwork on reclaimed wooden doors.
