Crane falls into KK River
November 18, 2008
This crane, owned and operated by CG Enterprises, fell into the Kinnickinnic River Nov. 17 when removing a yacht from the river near Skipper Bud’s, which stores boats for the winter. Yacht and crane both toppled into the water. The crane is pictured here with its end up out of the water. The Coast Guard responded to the scene because of fuel and oil spillage, estimated at a maximum of 90 gallons of diesel fuel from the yacht and 160 gallons of oil from the crane, according to Coast Guard News. An orange oil containment boom surrounds the spill. The area was blocked off. Why the crane and boat fell is not known publicly. No one was hurt.
