Predawn shooting at Lenox and KK

Bay View resident John Valerio was awakened at 4:40am today to the sound of a single gunshot followed by the cries of a shrieking woman, squealing tires, and a vehicle gunning its engine. Valerio, who resides in the 2600 block of S. Lenox Street, said he looked out his apartment window and saw a man slumped against a red car who then collapsed on the street.

The red car, according to Valerio, was parked on Lenox Street adjacent to Hair Architects, 2663 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. Valerio called 911 then walked to the scene and waited until emergency and police personnel who arrived within minutes of his call.

Milwaukee police officials said that the gunshot victim was breathing and conscious when they arrived. He was transported to Froedtert Hospital.

The victim’s name and condition have not been released.
