Fire at Alchemist Theatre building

The Milwaukee Fire Department responded to a call at 2569 S. Kinnickinnic Avenue at approximately 12:35pm today. The building houses Alchemist Theatre, which occupies the first floor, in addition to six apartments. According to a firefighter at the scene, a fire had erupted on the exterior of the building and was quickly extinguished.

Building owner Tove Case said the fire was ignited by a cigarette that a tenant tossed over the balcony, which landed in an old tree stump. There was no damage to the building or property, Case said.
