Boerner Botanical Gardens Wins Award & Offers Rainwater Harvesting Event Capture, Filter & Reuse Rainwater

Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive, will serve as host to a Rain Harvesting Event. As recipient of a Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District award, Boerner Botanical Gardens will turn a destructive problem into a beautiful and sustainable solution by capturing, filtering and reusing rainwater.

The public and professionals are invited to attend and learn how to install their own harvesting system and may participate hands on as the system is constructed and installed. A special homeowner class will be offered on Friday, August 21st. The cost is $100 for an event pass covering eight days or $25 for a day pass.

Each day (8am-5pm) will consist of a morning seminar focusing on construction that particular day.

Tues. Aug. 18: Latest design & Techniques of paving
Wed. Aug. 19: Waterfall & Stream Design/Construction
Thurs. Aug. 20: Raingarden Systems
Fri. Aug. 21: Homeowner Class

The following organizations — Reinders Inc., Aquascape Inc., Unilock, Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens, and the Milwaukee County Parks — have teamed up to install an innovative series of Best Management Practices for managing the volume, rate, and quality of stormwater runoff from Boerner Botanical Gardens, the Education Center, the Visitors Center and the parking lot.

The Rain Xchange System combines recirculating decorative water features with a sub-surface rainwater harvest and storage system. For more information or to register contact Joel Reinders at (262) 786-3306.

    Too late. Can you post the materials used in these seminars? I would really love to learn how to do this rainwater harvesting
