Play hooky Friday, May 11—take tours with perennials experts at Boerner Botanical Gardens

WHAT: Boerner Botanical Gardens Hosts National Public Gardens Day
WHEN: Friday, May 11 from 9am to 3pm, also the horticultural staff will offer garden tours at 10am, 11am, 1pm and 2pm.
WHO: Featured organizations that will be present include The Milwaukee Bonsai Society, The Wisconsin Iris Society, The Daylily Society of Southeastern Wisconsin, and The Wisconsin Unit of the Herb Society of America, The Southeastern Wisconsin Hosta Society, and The Greater Milwaukee Rose Society. In addition The Whitnall Park Rotary Club, Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens, Humana Healthcare, and Milwaukee County’s UW Extension – Horticulture Office will also be in attendance.
WHERE: Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive
HOW: Created in 2009 as a way to increase public awareness of the educational resources public gardens provide to local communities, National Public Gardens Day was adopted by members of the American Public Gardens Association, to highlight programs such as plant conservation, water conservation, the preservation of green spaces, and home gardening.
WHY: The National Public Gardens Day promotes and increases awareness of botanic gardens, zoos, historic gardens and any of America’s public gardens.
