Lane closures: southbound I-94 east from Hwy 50 to Illinois border

June 16, 2009

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) announces that beginning Tuesday, June 16, 2009 one lane of I-94 EAST (SB) from just south of WIS 50 to the WI/IL State Line will close until December 2009.

The closure begins with the southbound right lane on June 16 and will switch to a left lane closure the week of June 22, remaining in place until December 2009.

This closure is the beginning of work that will shift southbound traffic to the northbound freeway for the remainder of the year while the new southbound lanes are being constructed.

The work will also require the closure of the southbound exit ramp to WIS 165 and the southbound entrance ramps from WIS 165 starting June 15 until late July 2009.  Access to WIS 165 from the north will be available by exiting early to County C and using the West Frontage Road to WIS 165.

Work on this portion of the I-94 North-South freeway project from the Illinois-Wisconsin state line to south of WIS 50 was one of the two portions of the project advanced this year due to dollars from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Visit www.plan94.org for more information.

All scheduled closures are weather dependent. Thank you for your patience during the project’s construction and closures.
