Tippecanoe students to perform at Skylight

Sixth-grade students from Tippecanoe School for the Arts and Humanities will participate in a performance on Thurs., Jun. 4 at the Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee’s Third Ward.

The “Enlighten Celebration 2009″ event will feature performances by students from several area schools including Tippecanoe and will also feature a professional performance of “KidsWrites: Competition.”

KidsWrites, part of the Skylight’s education program, takes uncorrected student writing based on an annual theme, which, this year, is “competition.” The student writing is then performed by professional actors in a touring musical theatre show and also at the annual year-end event “Enlighten Celebration.”

Tickets for the event, which are $10 for adults and $5 for students, benefit the Skylight Opera’s Education program, “Enlighten.” The shows will take place June 4 and 5 at 5 pm in the Broadway Theatre Center’s Studio Theatre, 158 N. Broadway Ave.

Tippecanoe will only be performing on Thurs., Jun. 4.
